School Facility

Jacqueline Quatremaire Nursery School

Villetaneuse (93), Seine-Saint-Denis

Project description

The project envisions an extension deployed on the south side of the existing building, on the site of the former playground, now relocated to the west of the facility. Through its form and position, this extension redraws the site plan and creates a new entry sequence, open from rue Carnot.

Like a contemporary cloister, the building encloses an interior garden, a calm and luminous quadrilateral, open to the sky. This landscaped heart becomes the true center of gravity of the school: it naturally distributes the classrooms, the motor skills room, the entrance hall and all the essential spaces. It also offers a place to breathe, a space where nature reveals itself, like an open book in the midst of daily school life.

By structuring the facility around a protected space, the project creates a sanctuary for the school and establishes a serene setting conducive to learning and development. A place where children can grow, explore and learn to become the citizens of tomorrow.
