The Robinson leisure center, located along the route de Saint-Leu, has been a familiar landmark for children and families in Villetaneuse for nearly thirty years. Faced with the aging of the building and the evolution of educational practices, the municipality is now undertaking an ambitious restructuring to provide a more welcoming, more efficient facility better adapted to current needs.
The project, led by SMARCH and its engineering team, addresses comfort, energy efficiency, and spatial quality simultaneously. Ventilation, technical networks, roofing, joinery, acoustics: the entire building is modernized to ensure a healthy, bright, and comfortable environment. Accessibility and the integration of digital tools are also enhanced.
Two architectural interventions redefine the center's identity. An extension in metal louvres creates a covered patio, a true protective threshold and expansion space for events. At the rear, an airlock in timber structure optimizes thermal exchanges and simplifies the volumetry. At the heart of the building, an "interior street" becomes the new backbone of the place: a bright, through space, conducive to circulation, gatherings and room identification.
The activity rooms gain in quality through redesigned mezzanines, spiral staircases and renewed furniture, promoting autonomy and diversity of practices. The facades, wrapped in an insulating blanket of hand-molded bricks, adopt a sober contemporary aesthetic, reinforced by anthracite joinery and light-regulating blinds.
